Melinda Lewis: Authorprenuer, passionate blogger, lover of life, and a lover of a great shoe!

MIM!: How did you come up with Get Togetha, and how did you go from idea to plan of action?

Melinda Lewis: Get Togetha came to me in a dream and I followed through by putting one front in front of the other. Literally.

MIM!: What is a "typical" working day like for you?

Melinda Lewis: Working out in the morning, green tea, scrambled eggs, answering the onsloth of emails, & writing till I'm uninspired. Rinse. Recycle. Repeat.

MIM!: How many people do you have on your team or are you a Jill of All Trades who does everything from research to blog design?

Melinda Lewis: I have a web design team at my disposal but I'm definitely a Jilly. When you're starting out on your own I think its best to understand how every arm of how your business works.

MIM!: What inspires you?

Melinda Lewis: Love. Passion and Human Nature.

MIM!: What is the most treasured item in your home?

Melinda Lewis: Treasured photos.

MIM!: What one thing will you be investing in this Spring/Summer?

Melinda Lewis: Learning how to Swim.

MIM!: What is your favorite city and why?

Melinda Lewis: New York. And as cliche as it sounds ... I love it because its the city never sleeps...

MIM!: What are you listening to on your iPod?

Melinda Lewis: Sarah Vaughn, Africando, Jay-Z,

MIM!: What is your favorite book, movie, and who is your favorite style icon?

Melinda Lewis: The Alchemist, Mildred Pierce/Mo Betta Blues ... Style Icons: Tracee & her Momma Diana Ross, Kerry Washington, Rihanna, and Halle Berry who is a seriously underrated everyday dresser.

MIM!: Do you have any design tips for MIMI readers who are interested in creating an Afri-chic vibe in their homes?

Melinda Lewis: Yes. Embrace color and texture in your walls, accessories and your textiles.

MIM!: What is the best piece of advice you've been given?

Melinda Lewis: A project is never done; just due.

MIM!: What is the best piece of advice you can give MIMI readers who are looking to start a business online?

Melinda Lewis: Do your homework and have patience with yourself. Overnight success is an overblown myth!
