Black Woman Walking

In 1998, 16-year old Adilah Gaither was shot and killed at a bus stop when she refused to give her number to a young man. In response, the documentary Black Woman Walking was created by Tracey Rose. The movie can be found at the following YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp-Eq6QGSfI

There's been a lot of debate surrounding this work, and it's been quite telling how quick Rose and some of her supporters are to silence anybody with a dissenting opinion.

All in all, I would say that the documentary evinces a deep hatred for black men, and that's unfortunate as it actually does address an issue that merits discussion.

Some of the tactics that Rose's dissenters have used to show their opposition to her documentary is also a form of silencing in itself.
I also viewed the documentary and do not agree that it shows a hatred of anything other than the feeling of dehumanization that black women suffer when they are harrassed on the street, and the fact that this type of harrassement is not only considered as acceptable, but seen as something that black women should actually enjoy.
I am also not sure why anytime black women speak about issues that disturb them and attack their sense of self, they are accused of hating someone.
